Pacquiao vs Suzuki exhibition set for July 28

I had been wishing for Floyd Mayweather to face Japanese opponents who would provide a real challenge, but it seems I was looking in the wrong direction. The recent RIZIN MMA event unveiled that Manny Pacquiao will have an exhibition match against kickboxing and MMA star Chihiro Suzuki on July 28th.

According to reports by Lance Pugmire, the match will consist of three three-minute rounds at a catchweight of 150 pounds.

I had previously singled out Suzuki (13-3 MMA, 12-1 Kickboxing) as the ideal opponent for Mayweather if he were to make a comeback in Japan. The 25-year-old has been on a remarkable winning streak, defeating top fighters like Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and Vugar Karamov with his explosive style. While I may not predict his victory in a boxing match against Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KO), the exhibition should still be entertaining. It’s definitely a more appealing option than facing Mario Barrios, in my opinion.
