Boxing Results: Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington Stops De Gracia In The 8th As Naoya Inoue Looks On

In the recent Top Rank event, Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, ranked No. 4 by the WBO and No. 7 by the WBC in the featherweight division, claimed victory in an eighth-round TKO against Brayan De Gracia (29-4-1, 25 KOs) on Saturday night at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.

Originally set to face Enrique Vivas, Carrington had to adapt when Vivas withdrew due to visa issues. De Gracia, a tough Panamanian boxer, stepped up to take his place.

The fight started with De Gracia being aggressive, unleashing left hooks and combos while Carrington remained composed, using a high guard to defend and look for openings to counter. As the rounds progressed, Carrington showcased his skills, landing clean punches and eventually scoring a knockdown in the fifth round.

The action intensified in the sixth and seventh rounds, with Carrington dominating and scoring another knockdown. By the eighth round, Carrington’s relentless assault led to a flurry of shots that prompted the referee to stop the fight, securing Carrington’s victory.

After the bout, Carrington acknowledged the presence of Naoya Inoue, the undisputed super-bantamweight champion, who was watching ringside. Carrington expressed interest in facing Inoue in the future, highlighting his willingness to take on any current champions in the 126-pound division.

With an unblemished record of 12-0, Carrington’s ambition and determination to face the best in his weight class make him a compelling figure in the world of boxing. The prospect of a showdown with Inoue has fans eagerly anticipating what the future holds for “Shu Shu” Carrington.
