Championships Committee ordered Inoue- Akhmadaliev

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee has officially mandated a showdown between super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue and challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev on June 13th.

In a formal communication to both camps, the WBA has instructed that the Japanese champion must square off against Akhmadaliev within the next 30 days, with negotiations set to conclude by July 14th.

According to Championships rule C.10, Inoue must defend his title against the highest-ranked challenger within nine months of his championship victory. Inoue claimed the championship on December 26, 2023, meaning his mandatory defense against Akhmadaliev must take place by September 25, 2024.

Failure to reach an agreement or refusal to sign the fight could result in the committee resorting to an auction under the organization’s regulations.
