‘I feel like my time’s coming’: Opetaia looks forward to facing Usyk in future

IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia recently sat down for a chat with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV to talk about his career aspirations and future goals. Read on for some highlights from the conversation.

Opetaia believes he is just getting started in the boxing world and acknowledges that there is still a lot of hard work ahead. He expressed his excitement for the journey ahead.

When it comes to his career goals, Opetaia has his sights set on becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion. With three more belts to collect, he is eager to achieve this feat before considering a move up to bridgerweight or heavyweight divisions.

While winning a heavyweight title may be an ultimate goal for some, Opetaia’s main focus is on providing for his family and ensuring their comfort and well-being. He values being able to support his loved ones without them having to worry about financial stresses.

Opetaia has always had a respectful admiration for Usyk and the possibility of facing him in the ring. Having been close to him at a young age during their Olympic appearances, Opetaia sees a potential future showdown with Usyk as a natural progression in his career. Although he understands the timing has to be right, he remains open to the idea of facing the Ukrainian fighter.
