Canelo remains the face of boxing

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez successfully defended his championship title with a dominant win over Jaime Munguia on Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas. Despite facing a formidable opponent, the Mexican boxer showcased his superior skills and secured a decisive victory with scoring of 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112.

Alvarez had confidently stated that Munguia’s youth and undefeated record would not impact the outcome of the fight, and he proved to be right as he emerged victorious on Saturday night. While Munguia put up a spirited performance, Canelo demonstrated his ability to adjust to the fight, control the distance, and unleash his full potential. A pivotal moment came in the fourth round when Alvarez landed a powerful uppercut that sent Munguia to the canvas, turning the tide in his favor.

With this win, Alvarez solidifies his position as the face of boxing, adding the 61st victory to his impressive record of 2 losses, 2 draws, and 39 knockouts. On the other hand, Munguia now stands at 43 wins and 1 loss after a valiant effort against the champion.
