Dsalita IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis’ move to Matchroom is already proving lucrative, as Eddie Hearn and co. turned in a staggering $3.9 million offer at today’s purse bid for his ordered title defense against Cody Crowley.
As champion, Ennis (31-0, 28 KO) will be the beneficiary of an 85/15 split, meaning he’ll bank $3.315 million. Crowley (22-0, 9 KO) will receive the remaining $585,000, more than twice what he’d get if he proceeded with his WBC title eliminator against Souleymane Cissokho.
That’s assuming Crowley goes through with it at all, of course. He’s already turned down Ennis once before and has been incredibly unambitious since beating Kudratillo Abdudakhorov in 2021, beating faded vets Josesito Lopez and Abel Ramos in his two ring appearances.
If he does sign the dotted line, Eddie Hearn claims he’ll stage the fight this July in Philadelphia for “Boots’” first homecoming since his 2018 knockout of Raymond Serrano. Not a bad way to bounce back from the longest layoff of his professional career.
